Shruti Haasan turns heads at Cannes for the launch of ‘Sanghamitra’


Shruti Haasan, who works in Bollywood and South Indian cinema, made her debut appearance at the Cannes International Film Festival this year. The ‘Welcome Back’ actress attended the prestigious event to promote and launch the posters of her upcoming film ‘Sanghamitra’.

Shruti chose an edgy black Avaro Figlio gown for the launch of ‘Sanghamitra’ on her first appearance at the red carpet on Thursday, May 18. Her make-up was minimal and she did away jewellery, but carried a blingy clutch matching with her footwear.

The actress shared pictures of her Cannes look on her Instagram page with captions, ‘Walk the walk #cannes70 #sangamithra’, and ‘Love my dress by @avarofiglio #princess #punkrockvibes #cannes70’.

On Day two, Shruti looked stunning in a white Ampm dress and layered it with a beautiful printed Kashmiri-style printed wrap-on, while interacting with the foreign media. She finished her look with gorgeous earrings by Mahesh Nottandas.

Shruti later walked the red carpet looking like a diva in a black saree and golden blouse with floral patterns, by designer duo Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla. Her hair was neatly tied up in a top bun and got a winged make-up for the eyes. she wore a gold stud on her the upper part of her left ear which grabbed attention   

‘Sanghamitra’ is a trilingual (Tamil, Telugu, Hindi) historic drama starring Shruti as a fierce warrior, besides Jayam Ravi and Arya. The movie is said to be based during the 8th century AD and will be directed by Sundar C at an estimated budget of Rs 150 crore.

Shruti was accompanied at the red carpet by the entire team of the ‘Sanghamitra’, including director Sundar C, producers Narayan Ramaswamy and Hema Rukmini, music composer AR Rahman, Sabu Cyril and Shruti’s co-stars Jayam Ravi and Arya.
