Shruti Haasan to star in Telugu remake of ‘Premam’

Actress Shruti Haasan has been approached to star opposite Tollywood chocolate boy Naga Chaitanya in the Telugu remake of the super-hit Malyalam film ‘Premam’.

The Telugu remake of the romantic film is officially titled ‘Majnu’ and will be directed by Chandoo Mondeti. If Shruti is roped in, then she will be cast as one of the leading ladies of the film. Amyra Dastur and Anupama Parameshwaran have already been signed to play the other two lead actresses in the film. It will be interesting to watch the fresh pairing of Naga Chaitanya and Shruti on-screen.

The actress whose latest Bollywood flick ‘Welcome Back’ hit screens earlier this month is looking forward to the release of her upcoming fantasy-adventure film ‘Puli’ on October 1. Her last Telugu film ‘Srimanthudu’ opposite Mahesh Babu was also a blockbuster.

‘Premam’ which released in May this year was directed by Alphonse Putharen. Actors Nivin Pauly, Madonna Sebastian, Sai Pallavi, and Anupama Parameshwaran played the lead roles. Anupama is reprising her role in the Tollywood remake.

‘Premam’ narrates the story of a guy who falls in love with different women in different stages of life and is left heartbroken every time.

The movie grossed Rs. 60 crore worldwide and became one of the highest grossing Malayalam films of all times.
