‘Shorgul’ trailer: Jimmy Shergill starrer is a power-packed political drama

The trailer of upcoming political drama ‘Shorgul’ has been released. The movie which is set against the backdrop of Uttar Pradesh and its politics features Jimmy Sheirgill and Ashutosh Rana.

‘Shorgul’ is based on intolerance and aspires to make audiences contemplate where humanity stands amidst the noise of religious, social, political and economic prejudice, read a statement issued by the makers.

The political drama deals with elements of religious clashes, political rivalry and power games, and how this affect humanity in general. The movie touches upon the real incidents like the Muzaffarnagar riots and consequences of Babri Masjid demolition, besides other political corruption.

At the centre of it is a love story between a Hindu boy and a Muslim girl. Their relationship becomes a political minefield causing chaos and unrest in the state.

Jimmy Shergill plays the role of a politician and looks promising in his role. Nerendra Jha plays his rival politician from the minority community. Ashutosh Rana also comes across as a powerful character.

The movie also features Sanjay Suri, Eijaz Khan, Hiten Tejwani, Anirudh Dave, Suha Gezen and Deepraj Rana in prominent roles. The lyrics for the film have been penned by senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal.

Directed by Jitendra Tiwari and P Singh, ‘Shorgul’ is slated to release on June 24.
