‘Shivaay’ begins shooting; mahurat live-streamed on Periscope

Superstar Ajay Devgn’s ambitious project ‘Shivaay’ has finally gone on floors and the actor has made sure that all his fans get to be a part of the movie’s mahurat. In a one-of-its-kind event, the film’s team has broadcast live the first shot of ‘Shivaay’ from the sets in cantonment town of Landour adjoining Mussoorie.

Ajay who dons the director’s hat for the second time for the film after ‘U Me Aur Hum’ starring Kajol and him, took to Twitter to share the news.

“LIVE on #Periscope: Ajay Devgn Live from Shivaay shoot first day,” the actor posted on the micro-blogging site.

‘Shivaay’ is the first ever Bollywood film to have live streamed its mahurat shooting with the help of the new app Periscope, launched by Twitter which allows the audience to see what is happening live via connecting to their phones, laptop and personal computers and also send short messages on the video.

The shoot began at 8.15 am today (November 7). Ajay and debutante Sayesha Saigal, grand-niece of yesteryear actress Saira Bano, gave the first shot. The location appeared to be a lawn of a hotel or Bungalow in the cantonment town. The garden had two fountains and a large staircase.

Ajay and Sayesha gave a rehearsal shot before the final take. The actors were seen walking up the stairs of the lawn towards the fountain. It was an emotional scene and was perfectly done at one go.

‘Shivaay’ has been facing a lot of production issues for a long time, but it has finally seen the light of the day after almost a year. After the film completes its schedule in Musoorie, the unit will fly to Hyderabad and finally to Bulgaria where major portions will be filmed.

The movie is centred on the imperfections of the Hindu deity Lord Shiva and how it makes him strong. Ajay will be playing the titular role as a protector, transformer and a destroyer.

As of now, ‘Shivaay’ is set to release on Diwali next year along side Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’.
