Shirish Kunder calls UP CM Yogi Adityanath a ‘goon’
Shirish Kunder, husband of Bollywood choreographer-director Farah Khan, has slammed the elevation of BJP’s Ghorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath as the new Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
In a series of tweets, now taken off, Shirish called the newly-appointed CM a ‘goon’ and compared his activities with that of a ‘rapist’. “Hoping a goon will stop rioting once he’s allowed to rule is like expecting a rapist to stop raping once he’s allowed to rape,” Shirish, also a filmmaker, wrote.
He further wrote, “Going by the logic of making a goon as CM so that he behaves, Dawood can be CBI director. And Mallya – RBI Governor.”
His tweets received a lot of reactions from twiterratis, both in his support and against his statements. However, apparently to avoid getting into any controversy, Shirish deleted his tweet a few hours after posting them.
Before him, celebrity novelist Chetan Bhagat too targeted the BJP for appointing Yogi Adityanath the CM of India’s most populous state. He had tweeted, “#YogiAdityanath as UP CM. Because when you make the naughtiest guy in class the class monitor, he behaves the best.” His tweet also got many negative and positive comments from users.
This is not the first time that the director has voiced out his opinion on Twitter. Last year, he reacted on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ by tweeting, “If you block their nose, they will breathe from the mouth. Doesn’t mean they are enjoying it.”
Previously, he also gave a befitting reply to a user who asked about the religion of his triplets with Farah. He wrote, “Depends on which festival is next. Last month, they were Christians.”
Shirish is basically a film-editor and has also directed films like ‘Joker’, ‘Jaan-E-Mann’ and the short film ‘Kriti’ starring Manoj Bajpayee and Radhika Apte.
