Shahrukh's 'lungi dance' is a tribute to Rajinikanth

In the movie ‘Chennai Express’, Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone have together performed on a dance number called ‘Thalaivar Tribute (lungi dance)’. The dance number is a tribute to the South Indian megastar Rajinikanth.

‘Thalaivar’ means ‘supreme leader’. Rajinikanth has been conferred this title from his fans. The song is by rapper Yo Yo Singh. Before this song was shot, Shahrukh Khan and the makers of ‘Chennai Express’ took necessary permission from superstar Rajinikanth. A source close to the team of ‘Chennai Express’ said, “Obviously if Shah Rukh is giving a tribute to Rajinikanth, due permissions have been taken. We hear that Rajinikanth sir has blessed the song and given a nod to it.”

Shahrukh Khan is quite upbeat about this song. He strongly believes that this song will be liked by Rajinikanth fans, all over the world. During an interview, Shahrukh Khan told that he felt that the movie ‘Chennai Express’ was incomplete without the mention of South Indian superstar Rajinikanth.

The song ‘Lungi Dance’ is composed and sung by rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh and is choreographed by Chinni Prakash.

The song is shot on a set. The set has the backdrop of a railway station. On the rear wall, a huge poster of superstar Rajinikanth is pasted. Both Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone are seen shaking their booties to the tunes of ‘Lungi Dance’. A number of side dancers are also involved in this song. The song is light and is very peppy. Shahrukh performs a number of Ranjinikanth’s signature poses in this song. In the neon lights, Shahrukh and Deepika dance heartily.

Deepika is sexily clad in a chiffon saree. Her moves are a must watch. With all the ‘latkas-jhatkas’, she dances beautifully on this song. Shahrukh is clad in a casual mix and match suit.

The wordings of the song go “Moochon ko zara round ghuma ke, Anna ke jaisa chashma lagake, Coconut mein lassi milake, Aajao sare mood bana ke.” Shahrukh declared the release of this song on twitter. He wrote, “The Thalaiva (r) Tribute to Rajani Sir is out. Lungi Dance. Seemed apt if u make a film called Chennai Exp..u need to bow to the greatest.”
