Shahrukh wins Kolkatta team while Preity, Ness win Mohali team for IPL

Bollywood and Cricket, two of the countries biggest passions have now officially come together. Some of bollywood's biggest stars have bid mega bucks and won at an auction of city franchises of the Indian Premier League, the BCCI's (Indian cricket board) mega-hyped Twenty-Twenty competition. Superstar Shahrukh Khan bid $75.09 million and won the Kolkatta team.
Many Industrialists as well as superstars placed their bids for different cricket teams from different states which will then play against each other for a huge prize money. It is based on soccer's English Premier League. The BCCI has made a total revenue of $1.749 billion with all the bids that were placed on different teams. Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries Ltd was the highest bidder in all cities. It opted for the Mumbai team at $111.9 million. The second bid was won by Vijay Mallaya's UB group with a bid $111.6 million and it went for the Bangalore team. Shahrukh Khan along with good friend and actress Juhi Chawala and her husband Jai Mehta won the Kolkatta team with a bid of $75.09 million. Preity Zinta and beau Ness Wadia won the Mohali team with a bid of $76 million. There were several other groups who bid and won different teams.

Shahrukh Khan was very happy to win the Kolkatta team and said "I have already decided on the entertainment part but we have not decided on the core and content of the team. We want to put together a winning combination, for which I would definitely seek advice of the experts." SRK hopes that Indian captain Sourav Ganguly will be able to lead his team. Finally SRK also added "It's not about money. The idea is to nurture youngsters and give them more platform for playing cricket. I have a huge passion for game and I want to be part of every sport."
