Shahrukh Khan's ‘Ra.One’ animator Charu Khandal dies at 32


32-year-old Charu Khandal, one of the members of Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Ra One’ animation team passed away on Tuesday.

Four years ago, on March 25, 2012, Charu was badly hit by a speeding Honda City when she was returning home after attending a party . She was travelling in a rickshaw along with her sister Ritu and friend Vikrant Goel. In the accident, she suffered multiple injuries on her head and spine and was paralysed.

For 92 days, Charu was admitted to the Kokilaben Hospital including 40 days in the ICU. As a result of the accident, she suffered multiple injuries and fractures.

However, the driver of the car Manoj Netrapal also known as Gautam (then 39 years old) was under the influence of alcohol when he was driving as per police.

Recently, Charu run into high fever and could not fight back due to low immunity level and finally lost the battle of life. Charu's friend was quoted as saying, "I spoke to Charu only two weeks back. She fought her condition very bravely for 4 years." Charu's friend further explained what Charu went through recently, "She had high fever, it was just viral. But she couldn't fight it out because her immunity levels had gone drastically down after the accident, and they hardly rose after that."

After the accident, Charu could barely move any of her body parts except her neck and wrists.

Charu’s father who is a private tutor took loan of over Rs 12 lakh for his daughter’s treatment. It was not possible for Charu’s family to clear the medical expenses. Though Charu was not an employee of Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillied Entertainment, yet the actor ensured that all the medical bills were cleared.
