Shahrukh Khan to go on a world tour for ‘Happy New Year’

Last year, SRK took his fans for a ride on ‘Chennai Express’. This time the Bollywood superstar is literally travelling to different parts of the world to promote his upcoming film, ‘Happy New Year’. A special world tour has been organized for the promotion of the film that is scheduled to release on Diwali (October 23) this year.

SRK has informed fans about the tour titled ‘SLAM’ on his Twitter account. SRK posted, “Seduce you … love you … amaze you … go mad with you! SLAM The Tour from the ‘Happy New Year’ Team… USA & Canada slammed in Sept. 19th Houston, 20th New Jersey, 21st Toronto, 26th Chicago, 27th Vancouver, 28th San Jose.”

Apart from SRK the other cast members, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and debutant Vivaan Shah, will also be part of the ‘SLAM’ tour.  The film’s director Farah Khan, Malaika Arora Khan, rapper-singer Yo Yo Honey Singh and singer Kanika Kapoor of ‘Baby Doll’ fame will be joining them on the tour.

‘Happy New Year’ will be produced by Shahrukh’s wife Gauri Khan under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment. This is the third time SRK is teaming up with director Farah Khan, after ‘Main Hoon Na’ and ‘Om Shanti Om’ which also had Deepika Padukone as the female lead. The film is described as a musical heist film. It has been scheduled to release in three languages, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Interestingly, SRK had a bitter fall out with Farah’s husband Sirish Kunder only few years ago but since then they have patched up their differences. The trailer of the film will be released along with Ajay Devgn’s film ‘Singham Returns’ on 15th August. The film has been shot across locations in Mumbai and Dubai. While shooting for the film in Mumbai’s JW Marriot hotel, SRK got injured and suffered a fractured shoulder and tore his left knee patella. Currently the film is in its post production stage.

Meanwhile, the Randeep Hooda starrer, much delayed film ‘Rang Rasiya’ has been also scheduled for a Diwali release date. The film will be presented by Jayantilal Gada of PEN India. A source informed about the reason behind the decision that can also backfire. When asked about the clash with SRK’ film, Jayantilal Gada said, "Shah Rukh is a big star and I'm not competing with him. But there is an angle in the film which justifies a Diwali release."
