Shahrukh Khan pays 1.93 lakh to BMC for ramp demolish

Superstar Shahrukh Khan has finally paid the amount incurred in demolition of the illegal ramp outside his bungalow Mannat. Last month, BMC carried out the demolition work with many labours and it cost around 2 lakh. BMC sent a notice to Shahrukh to demolish the ramp outside his bungalow since it was illegally made and has been causing barriers for the locals and when there was no responce from the actor’s side; BMC took the demolition work in their own hands and get the job done.

Since Shahrukh Khan was responsible to demolish the ramp, he was supposed to pay the charges incurred in demolishing it. BMC sent a notice to the actor asking to pay the amount of Rs 1,93,784 for removal of encroachment within seven days and within the time frame Shahrukh Khan issued a cheque of the said amount. When contacted, BMC confirmed receiving the cheque.

For a long time, Shahrukh Khan has been using the ramp to park his vanity van.

A senior officer from H/west (Bandra, Khar) on condition of anonymity told mid-day, “We had sent the notice to pay the demolition charge since the ramp was illegal. On Wednesday, some people came from Shah Rukh's house and paid the amount."

Under MMC Act, 489(1) which states that expenses of demolition of the structure should be paid by concerned person since it is illegal.

The issue of illegal ramp was brought into limelight by several activists and local residents as it blocked the way of Mount Mary’s Church. On February 3, BJP MP Poonam Mahajan had written a letter to Municipal Commissioner Sitaram Kunte, asking him to take action against the illegal ramp.

Carrying the work forward, the ramp was finally demolished on February 13.
