Shahrukh again tops the Forbes Celebrity 100 List

Yes, Shah Rukh Khan has done it again. Proving his stronghold in Indian cinema, he has retained his place as No.1 on the Forbes India’s celebrity 100 List. The list is compiled by measuring earnings estimates and fame. This list is different from the Forbes India Rich List which focuses on net worth of candidates. Forbes India Celebrity List includes media personalities such as actors, singers, filmmakers, music directors etc. It also encompasses sportspersons, authors, stand up comedians and the likes. To arrive at the list, Forbes combines their gross pre-tax earnings with their fame scores.

So what are the changes in the list this year? Mahendra Singh Dhoni has made it to number two with his cricketing fame and endorsement deals.  Salman Khan, erstwhile number two has slipped to number three. Sachin has been promoted to number four from number six and Amitabh Bachchan sits pretty on his number five position.

Virat Kohli at number 7 is the youngest celebrity within the top ten positions.  With his growing popularity on and off the pitch, Virat Kohli has redefined cricket with his aggression and passion for cricket together with his skill on the field. This has made him a valuable role model and multi brand endorser. Therefore, he is at number 7.

Katrina Kaif, the only female celebrity among the top ten is at number nine. Kareena Kapoor and Virender Sehwag have exited the top ten list, making way for Ranbir Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan. Interestingly, Sehwag lost out on the fame count with a drop from 4 to 7 and his earnings have fallen too. Kareena lost due to a cut of Rs, 17 crore in earnings and her fame rank crashing down from 13 to 23. Dropouts from the list include Ajith Kumar, Ashwin Sanghi, Boman Irani, Esha Gupta and Gagan Narang.

The newcomers in the list are an interesting bevy of stars. At 28th position, we have Ravindra Jadeja, Shikhar Dhawan at 39th, Shankar Ehsaan Loy at 52nd place, Ranveer Singh at 66th, Prakash Jha at 67th. Navjot Singh Sidhu, a former cricketer turned TV personality has entered the list at the 81st position. Kamal Haasan didn’t make it to the list last year. This year, controversy and success of his film, Vishwaroopam ensured him a position at 47th. Sridevi has entered the list at 73rd spot. This year has a lot of newbies, we see!
