Shahid Kapoor will sport a full bearded look in ‘Rangoon’

Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor will sport a full bearded look in Vishal Bhardwaj’s next project titled ‘Rangoon’. The actor who is currently busy with his television dance show ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Reloaded’ was lately observed with growing stubble. It made viewers wonder why he was not bothering to trim it or shave it off, but the real reason is out now.

‘Rangoon’ is set in the backdrop of World War II and Shahid will be playing the role of an army officer and the beard is integral to his look. The period film also stars Kangana Ranaut who will play an actress of the 1940s, and Saif Ali Khan will be seen in the role of a filmmaker. ‘Rangoon’ is a ‘Casablanca’-like love triangle.

Confirming about Shahid’s bearded look, the actor’s spokesperson told a daily, “There was a lot of pressure on him to hold off growing it but he doesn’t like paste-up jobs and wants to be ready with a beard of his own when the film rolls in October. He’s really excited about reuniting with Vishal again.”

Shahid is known to work hard on his look for his every film and the ‘Jab We Met’ actor is preparing hard to get into the skin of the character of his upcoming project.

For the role of Charlie in Vishal’s 2009 film ‘Kaminey’, Shahid worked with his trainer for almost eight months to get the chiselled physique. He also went bald for the critically acclaimed ‘Haider’, then grew back his hair and dyed it red for the forthcoming film ‘Udta Punjab’. And now he is growing a beard for ‘Rangoon’ which is Vishal’s most ambitious film till date. Vishal has nurtured the dream of making ‘Rangoon’ for the last seven years.
