New father Shahid Kapoor steps out, visits Bhansali's office
However, the purpose of Shahid meeting Bhansali is not yet known. Whether the visit was an indication that the ‘Udta Punjab’ actor has begun work, or he wants to postpone the schedule or quit the project is not clear. But the answers will be hopefully revealed sooner.
Certain reports claimed that Shahid is taking a long paternity leave and is not willing to begin work on the project as yet. Therefore, he is considering to opt out ‘Padmavati’ so that he is able to spend some time with his wife and new-born daughter, before getting busy with his film shoots.
Shahid is supposed to play the role of Padmavati’s on-screen husband Raja Rawal Ratan Singh. Sources also said that Shahid's height does not match that of Deepika Padukone, who will play his on-screen quee Padmavati. Considering they will be playing a couple in the movie, it would look odd if they didn't complement each other.
Apparently, Shahid agreed to work in the film only after his role was re-written to be on equal footing with the character of Alauddin Khilji to be played by Ranveer Singh. Reportedly, Shahid has also hiked his fee for the film and to a whopping Rs 8-10 crore, as he is playing the second lead. With no other Bollywood actor willing to play the role, Bhansali had to relent to Shahid’s demands, a leading entertainment portal said citing a source.
However, Bhansali’s spokesperson has rubbished the news and said, “The reports surrounding the star cast remuneration for 'Padmavati' are completely false. The rumours are baseless and are being blown out of proportion.”
The movie is scheduled to go on floors this month and will release in December next year.
