Shah Rukh's “extreme intolerance” remarks haunt at ‘Dilwale’ trailer launch

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan who had kicked up a row with is “extreme intolerance” comments on his birthday on November 2 chose to keep mum when reporters quizzed him on the issue at the trailer launch of his upcoming film ‘Dilwale’.

Shah Rukh’s remarks on growing intolerance towards creativity and religion had snowballed into a political controversy with a few saffronites calling the actor “anti-national”, “Pakistani agent” and comparing him to Pakistani terrorist Hafeez Saeed.

At the launch event on Monday evening, journalist asked the ‘Chennai Express’ star to comment on the issue. While Shah Rukh remained non-responsive, his ‘Dilwale’ co-stars Kajol and Varun Dhawan stopped them from raking up the issue.

“We are intolerant today…ask me whatever you want to ask,” Kajol told reporters. Varun said, “This is not the place to ask this. We are here to talk about the film.”

The trailer launch event was held in a grand manner at a Mumbai multiplex. Film’s director Rohit Shetty, composer Pritam Chakraborty and the entire cast of the movie including Shah Rukh, Kajol, Kriti Sanon, Varun Dhawan, Varun Sharma, Johnny Lever, Boman Irani and Kabir Bedi were present at the launch.

Each of them was seen sporting the ‘D’ logo of the movie on their blazers, while Kajol donned it in the sleeve of her black gown while Kriti pinned it on her skirt. They had a lot of fun interacting with the media as they joked, laughed and shared anecdotes from the shoot.

‘Dilwale’ is set to hit screens on December 18 when it will clash with another big release – Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’ starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra.
