Shah Rukh Khan wants to open Red Chillies Restaurant and be a chef

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan besides being an actor, is also the owner of his production house Red Chillies Entertainment, co-owner of IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders and has also invested in Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel T20 cricket team of the Caribbean Premier League. Now King Khan wants to cook and open a restaurant.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Shah Rukh expressed his wish to cook and open a restaurant which he plans to name Red Chillies Restaurant. "I know it sounds very girlish (smiles). But then, I'm all for empowerment of women. I want to be equal to women. I want to go higher up to their level, instead of thinking that they have to go higher. But I genuinely want to cook," Shah Rukh said.

Witty as he is, the ‘Raees’ actor added, “Imagine, if I open a chain of restaurants and stores, kitna business karunga main (I will do so much business). Having said that, Juhi (Chawla) once asked me, 'Why have you named your company, Red Chillies?' And I was like, 'just in case film-making fails, I'll open a restaurant by the same name. Red Chillies Restaurant toh chalega hi (laughs)."

Giving the reason on why he wanted to be a chef, Shah Rukh said that he wants to learn cooking and invite his friends and colleagues and serve them, because he loves doing it. He also drew similarities between food and acting. “I think of acting too as ‘serving’. As an actor, when you serve and present your acting, you hope people like and enjoy it as much as you enjoyed making it [the film]. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t. Plus, you don’t impose yourself on people and be like accha laga ya nahi? (did you like it or not?). You just serve. I like to serve people in the house,” he said.

Shah Rukh has played the role of a chef in his 1998 film ‘Duplicate’ where he had a double role opposite Juhi Chawla and Sonali Bendre.
