Shah Rukh Khan to play soilder in his production on Operation Khukri

After playing a soldier in films like ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Veer-Zaara’ and ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’, Shah Rukh Khan may don the uniform of a military personnel in his upcoming home production based on Operation Khukri, India’s historic rescue mission in Africa.             

According to reports, Shah Rukh’s production banner Red Chillies Entertainments has started preparation for a movie based on Operation Khukri. The film will be mounted on a huge budget and the script is being developed in association with Azure Entertainment.

"There is a lot of excitement in Red Chillies for this project. Since there would be a lot of research and prep involved, the production team has already started work on the same," a source in the know of developments told IANS.

While the cast and director for the movie are being finalised, preparations are on to get this mammoth project rolling later this year. The movie will be shot in real locations in Africa.

Shah Rukh began his acting career by playing an army personnel in television series ‘Fauji’, as such the project is especially close to his heart. As per reports, Shah Rukh is personally very enthusiastic about this project, which is among the banner’s most expensive projects.

The multinational Operation Khurki was a rescue operation by the Indian military to rescue over 200 Indian peacekeepers held captive by armed rebels in Sierra Leone, West Africa.
