Jab Harry Met Sejal: Shahrukh, Anushka mesmerize in ‘Radha’ song

Shah Rukh Khan launched the first song from his upcoming film ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’, titled ‘Radha’ in Gujarat’s Ahemedabad on Wednesday. The actor, accompanied by director Imtiaz Ali flew down to the city for the song launch.

‘Radha’ is an upbeat and energetic number and begins with a conversation between Shah Rukh and Anushka Sharma’s characters. Shah Rukh who plays a Punjabi guy Harinder Singh Nehra aka Harry, asks Anushka’s Gujarati girl Sejal whether she knows why Punjabi singers sing so loudly. He says that being farmers, Punjabi’s need to raise their voices above the tractor’s noise, and starts singing on a very high pitch.

The song features the lead pair in a fun mode, singing, prancing and driving about in the picturesque locales of Europe. The song ends with a line sung by Anushka’s character very sweetly, but Shah Rukh’s Harry makes fun of it by saying it is ‘nice’, ‘sweet’ and ‘sasta type’.

Shahid Mallya and Sunidhi Chauhan have lent their powerful vocals, matching the energetic musical arrangement by composer Pritam. The lyrics have been penned by Irshad Kamil.

The makers of the romantic drama have been following a unique promotional strategy, and as a part of it, they had earlier initiated a contest led by Shah Rukh that would result in the superstar visiting the city that has the majority of girls named Sejal. Ahmedabad emerged victorious with the maximum number females named Sejal, and King Khan launched the first song amidst his fans there.

Anushka, however, missed the song launch, but she took to Twitter to share the song and wrote, “Haan Harry! Banungi Teri Radha! I thought you always knew! @iamsrk @RedChilliesEnt @sonymusicindia #RadhaOutNow.”

‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ has been shot in the picturesque locations of Europe, including Prague, Amsterdam, Lisbon and Budapest, besides in Punjab and Mumbai. The movie is slated to release on August 4.
