Shah Rukh likens KKR openers Chris and Sunil with characters of his '94 movie

Shah Rukh Khan is elated over the performance of his team Kolkata Knight Riders, which moved a step closer to securing a place in the IPL 2017 playoffs, following their massive win against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday (May 7).

Gautam Ghambir-led KKR chased down Royal Challengers Bangalore’s 158/6 with six wickets and 29 balls to spare, thereby improving their prospects of making it to the playoffs. Opening batsmen, Sunil Narine with 17-ball 54, and Chris Lynn with 22-ball 50, put on a breath-taking show at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, and tore the opponents with their smashing partnership of 105 runs in 6.1 overs.

A proud Shah Rukh praised the team’s efforts and the companionship showcased by the opening batsmen Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine, and likened it with the kind of onscreen camaraderie that the actor shared with his co-star and filmmaker Deepak Tijori in 1994 hit ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’. Shah Rukh’s character was named Sunil, while Deepak played Chris in the movie where Shah Rukh sacrifices the love of his life for Deepak’s Chris.

The ‘Raees’ actor shared a picture of him and Deepak Tijori as Sunil and Chris from the movie and juxtaposed it with another picture of KKR openers Chris and Sunil. “After Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa in ’94, Sunil n Chris come together to make 105… well-played boys! Ami @KKRiders.”

The 51-year-old has been encouraging his team players even though he has not been able to attend the matches. At present, the actor is in Dubai shooting for a promotional tour video for the city. This is for the second time the actor has become the brand ambassador for Dubai and is shooting for ‘Be My Guest’ series.

On the work front, the actor will be seen in Imtiaz Ali’s untitled film, opposite starring Anushka Sharma. He would also be shooting for Aanand L Rai’s directorial later this year.
