Shabana Azmi, Soni Razdan attend filmmaker Kalpana Lajmi’s funeral

Kalpana Lajmi passed away in Mumbai at the age of 64. Lajmi is known to make women-oriented movies like Rudaali, Chingaari, Ek Pal and Daman. She was unwell for few years and was diagnosed with kidney cancer last year.

She has been undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Kokilaben hospital. 

Her last rites was performed in Mumbai. Lajmi’s friends Shabana Azmi, Soni Razdan and many more friends of the director attended her funeral.

Soni Razdan# I will miss her strong energetic voice, her indefatigable drive to create, her laughter that was always so full of real joy and her wonderful sense of humour. Most of all I will miss my movie partner. Cant believe you’re gone Kalpana. RIP sweetheart

Other actors like Adil Hussain, Vivek Agnihotri, Raveena Tandon and Huma Qureshi also paid their last tribute to the award winning director and screenwriter.

President Ram Nath Kovind and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also mourned the demise of the filmmaker.
