‘Shaandaar’ collection drops, rakes in 20.65 cr in two days

Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘Shaandaar’ suffered a fall on day two. The film minted in Rs 20.65 crore in two days. On the opening day, it collected Rs 13.10 crore but on the second day, it showed a drastic fall and collected on Rs 7.55 crore. The average to negative film reviews could have caused the damage. Though extensively promoted by the lead stars, Vikash Bhal’s directed film failed to win over the heart of the audience.

‘Shaandaar’ had few reasons to win the ticket counter but unfortunately it failed to show the desired result. The film was released on Dusshera and the festive season always has a positive effect on any film, second the film brigs two new faces together for the first time, Alia and Shahid. Thirdly, ‘Shaandaar’ is Shahid Kapoor’s first release post marriage to Mira Rajput and last but not the least the film has an entertaining plot. Despite all those factors, ‘Shaandaar’ could not be a crowd puller.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the film’s figures:-

#Shaandaar Thu 13.10 cr, Fri 7.55 cr. Total: ? 20.65 cr. India biz.

But the opening day collection of the film proved good for both Alia and Shahid because it was the highest opening for both the actors. ‘Shaandaar’ defeated Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Roy’, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Baby’ and ‘Gabbar Is Back’, Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ and Kapil Sharma’s ‘Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon’ to become the sixth highest box office opener of 2015.

Though festive season continues, it is expected that ‘Shaandaar’ will grow through positive words of mouth. The film is directed by Vikas Bahl stars actors Sanjay Kapoor, Pankaj Kapoor and Shahid’s sister Sanah Kapoor in the pivotal role.
