Drunk Sanjay Dutt says Ranbir isn't macho enough for his biopic

Sanjay Dutt seems to think that Ranbir Kapoor is not the right choice to portray his character in the biopic on the ‘Munna Bhai’ actor to be helmed by Rajkumar Hirani. He feels that the ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ is not “macho” enough for the role.

Recently, Sanjay Dutt apparently got drunk at a party and ridiculed Ranbir over his choice of films and expressed surprise how the makers cast him to essay the former’s character on screen.

The party which went on till the wee hours, was hosted by the ‘Khalnayak’ actor at his residence. It was also attended by filmmakers Rajkumar Hirani and David Dhawan among others, who also downed a few pegs with the actor.

According to a report in DNA, Sanjay Dutt, in an inebriated state, addressed Ranbir and declared, “I want to produce a film starring you,” to which Ranbir replied, "Of course." The report mentioned that Ranbir, who is a frequent visitor to the Dutt household, was the only one neither drinking nor smoking.

Sanjay Dutt continued, "The Film is called Laddoo" with a straight face. A perplexed Ranbir repeated the name as a question and the senior actor replied, "Yes, after that we will make films called ‘Imarti’, ‘Jalebi’ and then ‘Peda’." After moments of awkward silence, Sanjay continued, "I watched Barfi! on TV recently. What made you do a film like that? @#$^&* bloody hell, you are playing me in the Sanjay Dutt biopic. I don't know how they cast you."

He went on, "You should be a macho man. Act in macho films. You can't be doing films like ‘Barfi!’. You should be holding guns and doing action films. Do you think actors like me, Salman (Khan) and Ajay (Devgn) would have been around for so many years, if we had not played macho characters on screen? You have no connect with the masses and that is very important."

The junior Kapoor maintained silence without any arguments as Sanjay kept lecturing him. The uneasy atmosphere started to normalise when Sanjay’s wife Manyata came into the room and asked the guests to have dinner as it was getting late.
