Doctors visit Sanjay Dutt at Yerawada jail

It is reported that in near future actor Sanjay Dutt might be shifted to Mumbai hospital as he is facing pain in his legs.

On Saturday, a team of four doctors visited the actor at Yerawada jail where the latter is convicted under the case of illegal possession of arms. Sanjay Dutt had been complaining of a pain in legs while walking. The doctors examined the actor.

According to the doctors, Sanjay Dutt is suffering from Peripheral Arterial Disease resulting in reduction of blood supply to both his legs.  The doctors, who did a primary check up of the actor, have advised the Yerawada Jail authorities to perform CT angiogram and arterial angiography tests on Sanjay Dutt.

One of the doctors told that since the actor is suffering from Peripheral Arterial Disease, the blood supply to his legs has reduced and that is why Sanjay Dutt is facing problem while walking. “The condition may have occurred due to excessive smoking and high blood pressure. Dutt has been complaining that he cannot walk swiftly due to pain.” a doctor said. The doctor also told that earlier when Sanjay Dutt was convicted in 2010 and kept in the same jail, that time also, he experienced similar pain.

Since, the Sassoon hospital does not have the facility to perform the mentioned tests, the actor might be shifted to JJ hospital in Mumbai. According to a source, the authorities of Yerawada jail have written a letter to the Government seeking a permission to shift Sanjay Dutt to JJ hospital in Mumbai. Only after the entire tests are done and test reports come, the severity of the disease will be known.

Medical Superintendent of Sassoon General Hospital DG Kulkarni said, “While CT angiogram isn’t available in our hospital, the machines required to perform arterial angiography aren’t working due to unavailability of some parts.”

However, Yerawada Jail Superintendent Yogesh Desai told that Dutt underwent a routine medical check-up. “I have no idea if he is suffering from such an ailment. Besides, there are no plans to send him to JJ Hospital for any tests or surgery.” he said.

Sanjay Dutt’s lawyer, Rizwan Merchant also said that he did not know anything about his client’s ill health.  “Neither do I have any idea about the ailment, nor do I know if he would be brought to JJ Hospital for any test.” said the lawyer.
