Sanjay Dutt confirms Omung Kumar’s ‘Bhoomi’ as his comeback film
Sanjay Dutt, who walked out a free man from Pune’s Yerwada Central Jail in February this year after completing his five-year sentence, has finally signed his comeback movie. The ‘Munna Bhai’ actor will star in National Award winning director Omung Kumar’s film ‘Bhoomi’, which will be his return vehicle to Bollywood.
Sanjay Dutt released an official statement to the media, confirming that that he is teaming up with Omung Kumar for his upcoming film ‘Bhoomi’.
"I have been looking for scripts that went beyond my screen persona. I wanted to do something vulnerable yet powerful. ‘Bhoomi’ is an emotional and sensitive drama that explores the relationship between a father and daughter," the statement read.
In an interview to Bombay Times, Sanjay Dutt revealed that he was offered many action films in the past but since those scripts were hard for him to relate to, he had turned them down.
“A lot of action films came my way but they wouldn't have satisfied the actor in me. This movie has so much for the common man to connect with. It just felt like the right project to reboot my career with,” the actor said.
The ‘Mary Kom’ maker said that his film ‘Bhoomi’ will portray Sanjay Dutt in a yet unseen avatar. "This one will keep the audience taut and on the edge of their seats,” Omung Kumar added. He will also be co-producing the film with Bhushan Kumar and Sandeep Singh under the banners T-Series and Legend Studios, respectively.
‘Bhoomi’ will go on the floors in February, 2017 in Agra, and will be shot extensively in Uttar Pradesh.
