Sangram Singh of ‘Big Boss 7’ fame makes film debut with ‘Uvaa’

Olympian wrestler Sangram Singh, who shot to fame with reality show ‘Bigg Boss season 7’ will make his Bollywood debut with the film ‘Uvaa’.

The film written and directed by Jasbir Bhaati, also stars Jimmy Shergill, who recently appeared as a supporting cast in the blockbuster ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’.

The wrestler-turned-actor will play the pivotal role of an aggressive sports coach in the film.

“I am playing a sports coach in the film who is very aggressive and always angry. He instils discipline in young students,” Sangram said.

The film is about youth and their strength in raising their voices against injustice.

“It is said that nothing can be done without youth. This is a completely youthful film. India is the most youthful country in the world with almost 45 percent of its population being youth,” Sangram told media at the music launch of ‘Uvaa’.

Sangram was accompanied by fiancee Payal Rohatgi at the event. The music launch was also attended by producer Firoz Nadiadwala, where the young casts of the film, including Vikrant Rai, Rohan Mehra, Sheena Bajaj, Poonam Pandey and others entertained the guests with their performances.

‘Uvaa’, produced by Chandresh Jethani and Anil Jethani, is about three youths getting embroiled in a rape case. Apart from Sangram and Jimmy, the film casts Om Puri and Archana Puran Singh in important roles. The film is set to releases on June 26.

Before stepping into films, Sangram had appeared in various television reality shows like ‘Survivor India’, Sach Ka Saamna’, ‘Welcome – Bazi Mehman Nawazi Ki’ and others. He also participated in celebrity couple dance show ‘Nach Baliye 7’ with partner Payal.
