Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony turned out to be a grand event with the presence of national and international leaders and it turned out to be starry with the presence of Bollywood celebrities. The entire national glued to the television screen as Narendra DamodarDas Modi swear-in as India’s 15th prime minister at 6pm in the evening today.

We saw bevy of celebrities present at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here Monday as Modi takes oath. Hema Malini, Dharmendra, Shatrughan Sinha, Vinod Khanna with his wife, Salman Khan and father Salim Khan, Poonam Dhillon were present. Vivek Oberoi, director Madhur Bhandarkar, Bhojpuri star Manoj Tiwari, musician and composer Bappi Lahiri were also present.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and south superstar Rajinikanth gave the event a miss. Lata who was personally invited by Modi was absent due to health issue and she personally made an apology to Modi through a handwritten note.

Kirron Kher was also present at the ceremony. Kirron made her political debut as the BJP MP from Chandigarh.

"Despite getting your invitation I had to decline it with a heavy heart as my health did not permit me to attend the ceremony," Lata said in a hand-written letter, which was posted by Modi on Twitter.

Madhur Bhandarkar tweeted, “Delhi beckons! Feel privileged, honoured & proud that I'll be able to witness in person the historic moment of swearing-in of Modiji today”.

Anupam Kher tweeted, “On my way to Delhi. Looking forward to the beginning of a new era. Jai Ho.:) #SwearingInceremony

Subhash Ghai tweeted, “Today young india is happy that #narendra modi #bjp is trying its best to eliminate the fear n enmity btw india n Pakistan”

Punit Malhotra tweeted, “Am a big supporter of the @narendramodi gov. Now that it's all coming together just hope this gov lives up to the expectations”.
