Salman’s ‘Sultan’ to clash with Shahrukh’s ‘Raees’ on Eid 2016


Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan are all set to clash at the box-office next year on Eid. Booking Eid dates well in advance has been a trend going on for a long time. Starting with ‘Wanted’, Salman Khan had Eid releases almost every year. His latest release ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ is again set for Eid release.

For next year Eid both Salman and Shahrukh had booked their film release dates. Their respective films will clash at the box-office. Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Raees’ and Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’ slated to hit theatres on Eid 2016.

The teaser of ‘Sultan’ directed by Ali Abbas Zafar was released on June 24 and the film has been confirmed for next year Eid while Shahrukh Khan starrer Raaes, which is being produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar production, is also confirmed to be released on the same date.

"The new development has taken everyone by surprise, especially since Raees was already announced (around March this year), as the Eid release," says an insider.

Trade experts is not in favour of the same day release of the film of the both superstars as it would hamper the box-office result of the both the film. "There’s a remote chance that the two movies will clash. Even Salman and Shah Rukh won’t like that. It would be interesting to see if anyone — or who — blinks first," adds the insider.

According to the latest grapevine, the makers of ‘Sultan’ and ‘Raees’ are not ready to change the release date of their respective films, "Most of the principal photography of our film is complete, and we have only 20 days left, which will be done in October. We were always scheduled to release on Eid 2016, and that’s when Raees will release," Ritesh Sidhwani says.
