Salman Khan's bodyguard Shera booked for assault
Salman Khan’s bodyguard Gurmeet Singh aka Shera has been booked by Mumbai Police for assault, after he allegedly broke a man’s collar bone and threatened him with a gun. An FIR in this regard was registered at the DN Nagar police station on Wednesday, October 26.
The incident took place on late Tuesday night at around 2.30 am when Shera had an altercation with one Attar Umar Qureshi on Link road. The victim was known to Shera and they also had a heated argument earlier over the phone, agency reports stated.
Shera reportedly went on to beat up Qureshi, after which the victim approached the police station and filed a complaint. Shera has been booked under section 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 326 of the Indian Penal Code, senior police inspector Dhanaji Nalawade of DN Nagar police station told PTI.
The victim has been hospitalised in Andheri. The reason behind the altercation is not yet clear. Also, no arrest has been made so far in the case and further probe is underway.
When Qureshi was passing through the Link Road with his friends, he saw Shera and halted his car, said Mumbai Police spokesperson Ashok Dudhe in a statement. Meanwhile, Qureshi got a call and while he was speaking an altercation broke out between him and Shera, he added.
According Dudhe, the complainant alleged that Shera hit him with a baton and a butt of pistol and fled from the spot.
Shera has been serving as Salman's bodyguard for over 18 years and is a close aide of the actor. Salman even dedicated his film 'Bodyguard' to Shera.
