‘Salman Khan’ is registered voter in Hyderabad!

In a startling case, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s name appeared on the voter’s list of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the polling for which was held on Tuesday, February 2.

Polling agents at a centre in Gowlipura locality of the historic city were taken aback to find the ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ actor’s name and photo on the list.

The voter, who goes by the name Salman Khan, incidentally has Saleem Khan listed as his father.  Moreover, the photograph too was of the actor. The only difference was the age. While the voter’s age was mentioned 64 years, the actor turned 50 last December.

The Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC) No. was YVO 1360395. On learning about it, media persons rushed to the division and clicked pictures of the list. In next few minutes, the star’s photo in the list got circulated and went viral on social media.

The incident raises the grave question whether the election commission has erred while issuing voter identity cards. People said it was another proof of the manner in which election authorities issue voter identity cards.

"Those who are genuine voters in a locality don't get identity cards or their names are deleted without any notice," said a resident in the old city.
