Salman ditches Kapil Sharma; promotes ‘Tubelight’ with Sunil Grover & team

Salman Khan is gearing up for his big Eid release ‘Tubelight’ and will be soon seen on various television shows promoting the movie. ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ has been a sought-after platform for film promotions, but the comedy-cum-chat show is fast losing its spot.

Salman has in the past promoted his films ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Sultan’ on the show, but this time round, the superstar has ditched Kapil Sharma and his show. Rather, Salman will be promoting ‘Tubelight’ in a special show starring ex-members of ‘TKSS’ – Sunil Grover, Ali Asgar, Sugandha Mishra and Dr. Sanket Bhosle.

Sunil, who used to play the role of Dr Mashoor Gulati and Rinku Devi on ‘TKSS’, walked out of the show after host Kapil Sharma allegedly insulted and hit him onboard a flight in March. Ali, Sugandha, Sanket and Chandan Prabhakar also quit the show in solidarity with Sunil.

According to reports, Salman has already shot for the two-hour-long special episode and some pictures are doing the rounds. The pictures have the comedians – Ali, Sugandha and Sanket, dressed in formal trousers and checked shirts and wearing half-sweaters, just like Salman’s look in the movie. The actor is also present with them. The show will be aired on Sony TV, where Kapil’s show also airs.

"We recently shot for a promo and it will soon go on air. Sunil Grover was not part of the promo shoot as he was travelling for his one of his live events. It will be a two-hour special episode and will mostly have all the actors who recently quit ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ after Kapil's spat with Sunil on a flight,” a source close to the show told a leading daily.

The source added, “Salman is very close to Ali Asgar and when he got to know that they are not doing anything for the past three months after their now infamous fight, he opted to do a special episode with them. The episode will have Salman Khan and the cast of ‘Tubelight’."

Directed by Kabir Khan, ‘Tubelight’ hits screens on June 23.
