Salman Khan's case verdict today: Will he be sent to jail?

It’s judgement day for Salman. The 12-year-long trial into the 2008 hit-and-run case will finally come to an end after the Bombay City Civil and Sessions Court pronounces its verdict. The Dabangg star is accused of running over his Land Cruiser over five pavement dwellers and killing one of them outside a bakery in Bandra on the intervening night of September 27-28, 2008.

The actor is maintaining a stoic silence over all these developments and is neither nervous nor restless, according to his father eminent scriptwriter Salim Khan, adding that in such cases parents suffer more than their children.  The actor, booked for culpable homicide faces 10 years of imprisonment if found guilty. Salman, who was in Kashmir for the last leg shooting of Kabir Khan’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, had flown down to Mumbai for the Judgement.

Judge D W Desponded is presiding over the case and has taken the case on a priority basis and will seal the fate of the case at 11: 15 am on Wednesday. The Mumbai Police has deployed 100 policemen, including 10 officers inside and outside the courtroom anticipating a huge crowd of fans.

Meanwhile, Selman’s fate in the case is very important for the film industry as an investment of Rs 200 core is at stake. Moreover, the actor brings in an average of another Rs 200 core of business into the Box Office annually. Thus, it will incur additional losses if Salam is sent to jail. The industry is therefore, keeping its fingers crossed and hoping nothing terrible happens in the case.
