Saif to romance Richa Chadda in ‘Mr Chaalu’

Saif Ali Khan who has impressed audiences in both serious and light characters is all set to play a womanizer in the film ‘Mr. Chaalu’ directed by Reema Kagti of ‘Talaash’ fame.  Kangana Ranaut was reportedly the leading lady of the film. Now latest industry reports have suggested that actor Richa Chadda will also be seen playing a key role of the film.

A source close to the production said, "Richa plays one of the women, Saif's character, a smooth player, encounters. She has a strong romantic angle with Saif. She plays a quintessential Mumbai girl and her role has elements of dark humour."

Richa Chadda had previously worked with the same production house last year, for the film ‘Fukrey’. ‘Mr.  Chaalu’ is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. Ritesh confirmed the news to the media and said, "Yes, Richa is on board. We share a fantastic working relationship. As of now, not much can be revealed about the character. All I can say is that it's an important part. Wait to get surprised." The film will go to the floors next year and will be released in 2016.

Richa Chadda is currently working with director Sudhir Mishra in the film ‘Aur Devdas.’ Her last film ‘Fukrey’ became a sleeper hit and was also praised by critics. On the other hand Saif is currently shooting for the terrorism based drama ‘Phantom’ alongside Katrina Kaif. His last release was the Sajid Khan film ‘Humshakals’. While the film managed to turn up a profit, it was blasted by critics and ridiculed by the majority audience.

Saif later publicly admitted that doing the film was a mistake on his part. He said in July, "I did the film thinking that it will help me expand my market, but obviously that wasn't a clever idea."  He went on to say, "I was trying to be someone I'm not. The humor was not the kind I enjoy. My upcoming film, Happy Endings, is closer to the comedy I believe in and am known for." He revealed that he left everything on the director, saying, "The film didn't have a script as such, it was all there in Sajid's mind. I did whatever he asked me to."

Saif is now looking to leave the debacle behind him and do better films. He had also spoken about ‘Mr. Chaalu’, “Kangana and I play totally flawed characters who complete each other without even realizing it. I'm teaming up again with Farhan and Riteish who I worked with in Dil Chahta Hai. It's a joy working with them for their technical and creative proficiency. "
