Saif-Iqbal Sharma brawl: cops submit CD, actor’s clothes

On April 30, police submitted a CD containing CCTV footage of the brawl that took place between Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan and an NRI businessman Iqbal Sharma way back in 2012 at a five-star hotel. The cops also produced the clothes worn by the actor at the time of the incident.

"We submitted the CD and clothes to the court, which has adjourned the proceedings," said public prosecutor Wajid Sheikh.

The actor has been booked under Section 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police had filed a charge sheet in this regard on December 21, 2012.

“The court framed charges against Khan and his two friends - Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi - under section 325 (assault) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code,” public prosecutor Wajeed Sheikh said.

Two years ago, Saif Ali Khan was involved in brawl with NRI businessman and his relative at Wasabi — a Japanese restaurant in the Taj Mahal hotel when Saif with his friends and Iqbal Sharma with his family was enjoying a dinner. Saif also got physical with Iqbal Sharma and following which the later lodged a police complaint against the Nawab. He was granted bail immediately.

Saif was accompanied by his 10 friends, including Kareena Kapoor and actor Amrita Arora. Trouble brewed when the NRI asked the actor to lower down the noise as it was disturbing them. Saif denied his request and used abusive language. Soon the situation turned worse. According to Sharma, Saif used abusive language and also hit him on his nose. Sharma added that when his father-in-law Raman Patel intervened, Saif hit him as well.

Saif and his friends surrendered at the police station and they were released on bail after the incident.
