Rishi Kapoor takes a jibe at Ranveer, Karan Johar and ‘Padmaavat’

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor is back to jibing. The actor, who is known to speak his mind took a jibe at Ranveer Singh, Karan Johar and film ‘Padmaavat’. As we all know Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s periodic drama hits the theatres amidst protest from Karni Sena. Many cases of violence are reported from states like Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan etc. They are protesting against the release of the film. In this hour of crisis, when film industry stood together holding each other’s hands, Rishi Kapoor did a U-turn and criticized ‘Padmaavat’ referring Ranveer Singh and Karan Johar.

The senior Kapoor poked fun at the expense of the protests that ‘Padmaavat is facing’. He wrote, “Ranveer Singh has announced that if Karni Sena tries to stop the release of Padmavat, he will do Johar .”  Along with the post, he shared a picture of Ranveer and Karan from AIB Roast.

However, Rishi Kapoor received a lot of negative flaks following his tweet and the actor was bound to delete it.

In a statement to Hindustan Times, the veteran actor earlier said in support of ‘Padmaavat’, “It’s very unfair that people are behaving in such an unruly manner; taking up violence and threatening in an open democracy [about] taking their lives, raising a bounty on their heads. [And that too] in a situation, where you haven’t even seen the film and are still judging it.” Furthermore, he had said, “It’s a democracy and they [protesters] should be put behind bars. It’s like threatening a person with death. I am so sad that police has not taken any [stringent] action yet.” He went on to say that how could one protest without even trying to find out what the content is all about. The actor said, “You don’t know what the content of the film is and you are protesting without any knowledge. How can you do that? You can do all this — of course not violence — you can raise your voice and questions once you have seen the film and after knowing its content. How stupid it is to do all this without even seeing it?
