Rishi Kapoor slams young actors for missing Vinod Khanna’s funeral

Bollywood lost one of its gems on Thursday when one of the most handsome and humble actors Vinod Khanna left for his heavenly abode at the age of 70. Khanna’s mortal remains were consigned to flames at Mumbai’s Worli crematorium in the evening where Bollywood bid a tearful adieu to the late star.

Khanna’s contemporaries, including Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Ramesh Sippy, Subhash Ghai, Saroj Khan were present at his funeral. Jackie Shroff, Randeep Hooda, Abhishek Bachchan, Chunky Pandey and Dia Mirza also attended. But surprisingly, well-known stars from the current generation, including the Khans – Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh and many others were missing.

The late actor’s friend and co-star of movies like ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and ‘Chandni’, Rishi Kapoor was upset over this and took to Twitter to express his displeasure. He slammed the new generation of actors for not turning up to pay their last respects at Vinod Khanna’s funeral.

In a series of tweets, the 64-year-old actor wrote, “Shameful. Not ONE actor of this generation attended Vinod Khanna's funeral. And that too he has worked with them. Must learn to respect… Why this? Including mine and thereafter. When I die, I must be prepared. None will shoulder me. Very very angry with today's so called stars.”

Incidentally, a day before Priyanka Chopra hosted a bash which was attended by many of these missing stars like Kangana Ranaut, Madhuri Dixit, Sushmita Sen and others. Rishi Kapoor, who had also attended Priyanka’s party called the others “chamchas” and wrote, “Angry. Met so many chamcha people last night at Priyanka Chopra's do last night. Few at Vinod's. So fuckn transparent. So angry with them.”

When asked about his son Ranbir Kapoor, who is currently in London, the ‘Kapoor & Sons’ actor said, "Yes, it has been expressed earlier on social media. My wife and Ranbir are out of the country. Would never have a reason not to be there."

Shah Rukh, who played Vinod Khanna’s onscreen son in the late actors last outing ‘Dilwale’, is also out of country to deliver a speech at TED Talks.

Vinod Khanna's recent movies include ‘Dilwale’, ‘Dabangg’, ‘Players’, and ‘Dabangg 2’.
