Rishi Kapoor breaks silence on strained relationship with son Ranbir

There has been a lot going on in Ranbir Kapoor’s life since he fell in love with Katrina Kaif. Besides making headlines with just one still of him and Kat together, the actor has had a major change in his family life. There were a lot of rumors that things weren’t well at Kapoor khandan. Now this has been confirmed by a family member and it is rather surprising to hear what he has to say. Recently, Ranbir’s father Rishi Kapoor gave an interview to Mumbai Mirror and talked about his strained relationship with his son.

Till now, it wasn’t clear as to what problems had raised complications in this bond. Now for the first time, one of the two have come out and spoken about the issue with the media. Rishi was quite frank in his interview and his regret could be clearly seen. Rishi admitted that he had given enough personal space to Ranbir and his girlfriend and understands that his son needs space. Though he didn’t reveal the name of the “girlfriend”- Deepika or Katrina? Rishi said- “My father gave me space when I moved out after marriage and I give Ranbir his space too when he decided to move out and share a home with his girlfriend. In this house, he had one room: how could that be enough for a 33-year-old boy?”

Rishi appreciates Ranbir for who he is and does not put the blame on him. Instead, he admits that he himself had been wrong on his part. He holds himself responsible for the not-so-good relationship with his son. The actor regrets that it is too late now to make things right. “He’s a great son, he listens to me but I don’t interfere in his career because my career is mine and his is his. I know I’ve screwed up my relationship with Ranbir even though my wife kept telling me about what I was doing. It’s now too late to change it; both of us will not be able to adjust to the change,”says Rishi.

He further puts his pain into words- “It’s like there’s this glass wall, we can see each other, we can talk, but that’s it. He doesn’t live with us anymore, which is also a very big setback to Neetu and me.” But then there is still hope! “We’re building a new home where there will be a lot of place for him and his family. Till then, life goes on,” he concludes.
