Richa Chadda bags lead role in Indo-American film ‘Love Sonia’

Bollywood actress Richa Chadda has bagged the lead role in Indo-American film ‘Love Sonia’. She will be seen alongside Freida Pinto, and TV actress Mrunal Thakur. The movie will be the directorial debut of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ producer Tabrez Noorani and will be produced by David Womark of ‘Life of Pi’ fame.  

The movie is based on real-life incidents of human trafficking and tells the heartfelt story of Sonia, a young Indian village girl, who is sold off by her father and gets trapped in the global sex trade industry. After her disappearance, her sister Preeti goes on a mission to find her and falls into the vicious world of sex trafficking.

The movie also stars American actor Paul Dano along with Manoj Bajpai, Anupam Kher, Rajkumar Rao, Sai Tamhankar and Adil Hussain.

Richa said that she feels “honoured” to be a part of the “talented team”. "I am delighted that I can be part of this project. I really believe in the content and I can say that this film is being made for the right reasons. I am honoured to be part such a talented international team," the ‘Masaan’ actress said in a statement.

The film is scheduled to go on floors next week and will be filmed in India, Hong Kong and Los Angeles, and is slated to release sometime next year.

Meanwhile, Richa will be next seen in Omung Kumar’s biopic ‘Sarabjit’ on May 22, and Pooja Bhatt’s production ‘Cabaret’ also in May.
