Ranveer Singh speaks about safe sex

Bollywood’s ‘Lootera’ fame actor, Ranveer Singh, who is riding high on the successes of films including, ‘Goliyon ki Rasleela Ram-Leela’ and ‘Gunday’ will reportedly begin his brand endorsements with ‘Durex’ condoms.

Ranveer, when asked about his choice of brand, quite openly replied, “As an actor and as an individual, I have a propensity for pushing the envelope, breaking the mould and taking the road less travelled. Over the past three-and-a-half years that I’ve been a part of the Hindi film industry, I’ve declined several tempting endorsement offers. I’ve been saving my brand virginity for the right one.”

“Sex is still considered a taboo in our country and the idea behind my association with Durex is to create awareness around sexual well being, promote safe sex and have fun while doing it!” the actor added.

Ranveer Singh will join the ranks of global stars such as Prince, Kesha, 50 Cent, U2 and Daft Punk and such Indian hot stars as Sunny Leone and Pooja Bedi, who endorse these brands.

According to reports, the commercial will be shot on March 30. But reports say the ad filmmakers are still looking for the female model who will feature opposite Ranveer.

From a very early age, Ranveer aspired to be an actor. He is known to have participated in several school plays and debates as well.

In 2010, Ranveer Singh made his debut in Bollywood playing a leading role in Yash Raj Films’s romantic comedy ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’. The film was a box-office success, which won him a Filmfare Award in the Best Male Debut category.

After ‘Band Baaja Baarat’, he signed for ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bahl’, a romantic comedy where the actor played a conman Ricky Bahl who conned girls for a living, but finally met his match.

His next release was ‘Lootera’ in 2013, a period romance, written and directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. The actor looked quite different in period costume in the movie, but carried it off with ease.

Following this, Ranveer appeared alongside Deepika Padukone in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, titled ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela’, where he played Ram, a Gujarati boy based on the character of Romeo. The film is one of his highest earning releases till date, with worldwide revenues of R2.02 billion (US$33 million). And the actor received several recognitions, including a Best Actor nomination at Filmfare for his performance.
