Ranveer Singh says unpleasant rumours hurt him in the beginning

Bollywood actors Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra who appeared as siblings in ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ which released earlier this month talked about their experiences in Bollywood at a recent radio show.

The charmer Ranveer revealed that it was hard for him to cope with taunts on social media and rumours he heard about himself during the initial days of his career.

Ranveer, who debuted with the film ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ opposite Anushka Sharma, bared his heart about how he felt when he was a fresher in the industry.

The extrovert and energetic actor known to speak frankly, said when he was riding high on the success of his debut film there was a rumour that his father had paid Rs ten crore to Yash Raj Films, the producer of his debut film, to cast him in the movie.

The actor also revealed that he was harassed on social media by users who asked how he managed to get into films, so that they too can try their luck, an entertainment portal reported.

Ranveer has spent five years in Bollywood and is able to laugh off the rumours now, but he admitted that such tittle-tattle surrounding him used to hurt when he was new in Bollywood.

His co-actor Priyanka also talked about how certain gossips hurt her. She revealed that once a newspaper carried a story that she had demanded mineral water during a shoot of one of her films. The report had annoyed her.

Before ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, Priyanka and Ranveer have shared screen space in YRF’s ‘Gunday’ which also starred Arjun Kapoor and Irrfan Khan. The two will be again seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming historical film ‘Bajirao Mastani’ also starring Ranveer’s rumoured girlfriend Deepika Padukone.  Priyanka has also appeared in an item song in Ranveer and Deepika starrer ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela’.

Meanwhile, Priyanka is also shooting for Prakash Jha’s ‘Gangaajal 2’.
