Ranveer, Katrina, Chris Brown to perform at IPL opening

Bollywood actors Katrina Kaif, Ranveer Singh, Jacqueline Fernandes, Yo Yo Honey Singh and American singer Chris Brown will kick-start the opening ceremony of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016. The glitzy event will take place at Mumbai’s Dome @ NSCI-SVP Stadium on April 8.

American singer-songwriter Chris Brown will be performing in India for the first time. In a statement released by his team, the ‘Turn up the music’ singer said that he is very excited and is looking forward to a crazy night of mayhem and “meeting all beautiful people” in India.

American music group ‘Major Lazer’ will also set the stage ablaze with their electrifying performance. “At IPL we treat the whole city like one scene and we bring everyone out for music, food and just good energy all around. All of us in Major Lazer are excited to be back in India bringing carnival to the fans,” said the electronic music group.

Ranveer, one of the most energetic actors of Bollywood said his act will honour the spirit of cricket and victory, while the gorgeous diva Katrina has promised a “fantastic” performance. Honey Singh, who is back with a bang after 18-month-long absence, said, “I'm looking forward to put together a bad-ass performance for all my fans. I will showcase to the world how music and sport go hand-in-hand."

Beside the celebrity performers, there would be 200 dancers, mass cast performers, folk artists and percussionists adding to the entertainment in the much awaited inaugural ceremony of IPL 9.

The opening match of the season will take place between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiants at Wankhede Stadium on April 9.
