Ranveer-Deepika to pair up again for Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’?

One of the hottest on and off screen couples of Bollywood, Ranveer and Singh and Deepika Padukone may team up with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali again. The trio has had two back-to-back successful films with ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram Leela’ and Bajirao Mastani’.

Bhansali’s next project is also a period drama tentatively titled ‘Padmavati’. It will revolve around the character of Sultan Alauddin Khilji - the second sultan of the Khilji dynasty and former ruler of the Delhi sultanate - and his obsessive love for Rani Padmavati of Mewar - who was renowned for her beauty and intellect.

According to reports, Ranveer has already been signed for the film, while the filmmaker spoke to Deepika about it on the sets of ‘Bajirao Mastani’.

“Sanjayji spoke to Deepika about his project during the shoot of ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and she seemed excited at the prospect then. She will mostly agree to play the part. Just that with Bhansali productions, one has to be able to commit a large chunk of exclusive dates, which is not always very easy,” a source was quoted as saying.

Reportedly, it will be the biggest film of Bhansali’s career and would be made on a budget of Rs 125-150 crores. It will be written by Prakash Kapadia who has earlier collaborated with the director on 'Devdas,' 'Black,' 'Saawariya' and the recent 'Bajirao Mastani.'

The movie will go on floors in the second half of 2016 and will hit the big screen on 15 December 2017.

In the meantime, both Ranveer and Deepika are busy with their respective projects. While Deepika is shooting for her Hollywood debut ‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage’ in Canada, Ranveer is busy with Aditya Chopra’s directorial ‘Befikre’ in Paris.
