Rani Mukherji to have Bengali-Punjabi style baby shower

Rani Mukherji, who is expecting her first child with YRF head Aditya Chopra is going to have traditional style of baby shower. It will be combination of Punjabi and Bengali style of godh bhari. Like her wedding, heavily pregnant Rani wants her baby shower to be a combination of both the rituals.

Says a source, “Rani is very traditional. Even when she got married in Switzerland it was in the traditional Bengali way with shankha (made of conch shells), sindoor and pola (bangles made of red corals). A pandit was flown in from India. And she wants the baby shower to be traditional as well. Only hitch is, Rani is not stepping out now, so the ceremony might be held at her and Adi’s bungalow. It is a women-only ritual.”

Baby shower or Godh Bharai usually takes place in the seventh or eighth month of pregnancy. The expecting mother is treated with her favourite foods, new clothes and gifts. In Bengalis, Shaad is celebrated to keep the mother-to-be surround her with positive vibes.

Rani’s baby shower is being organised by her mom-in-law Pamela Chopra in a grand manner. The ceremony is likely to take place next month. It is also rumored that the 'Mardaani' actress will deliver her baby outside the country. Currently, Rani is under medical supervision. She is admitted to hospital after Diwali bashes.
