Rani Mukherji announces her comeback with YRF’s ‘Hichki’


Rani Mukherji, who took a break from acting post marriage, is all set to return to the big screen after a gap of four years. The actress was last seen in 2014 film ‘Mardaani’, which hit screens a few months after her marriage with Yash Raj Films honcho Aditya Chopra.

Rani and Aditya tied the knot in April, 2014 and the couple was blessed with a baby girl, Adira in December 2015. Now, that Adira is one year old, Rani has decided to get back to work.

The 38-year-old actress will make her comeback with ‘Hichki’ meaning hiccup, to be directed by Siddharth P Malhotra of 'We Are A Family' fame and produced by Maneesh Sharma under YRF banner.

Speaking about her Bollywood comeback, Rani said, “I was looking for a script that would challenge and excite me, and ‘Hichki’ came my way.”

“Each of us has a weakness that pulls us back. It could be a disability or any condition, but if we just look at it as simply a hiccup, we can emerge as a winner. It won't come in the way of achieving our dreams. ‘Hichki’ is built on this positive premise and I decided to take it up," she added in a statement.

Rani made her Bollywood debut with 1997 film ‘Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat’ and has gone on to star ind several popular films like ‘Ghulam’, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham...’, ‘Saathiya’, ‘Hum Tum’, ‘Black’, ‘Bunty Aur Babli’, ‘No One Killed Jessica’ among others.
