Rani Mukherjee, Aditya Chopra to marry in February

The next big going to happen in Bollywood in 2014 is Rani Mukherjee and Aditya Chopra’s wedding. Rani Mukherjee and Aditya Chopra were engaged and the couple has decided to take their relationship to the next level very soon. According to an insider, Rani and Aditya will exchange wedding vows in February, 2014 and the wedding preparation at both the households almost started. The wedding will take place in both Bengali and Punjabi style.

Ace designer Manish Malhotra a while back hinted about the upcoming big fat Bollywood wedding. A source was quoted saying, "They're an extremely religious family and Rani's parents won't let her get married in the sly. They have dreamt of a wedding complete with rituals, and that would happen anytime early next year. Officially, the families are yet to declare a date but it might be during the end of winter."

Rani celebrated last diwali at her would be sasural with Aditya and her would be mother-in-law Pamela Chopra. Rani’s mother and her entire family celebrated diwali at Aditya’s bungalow.

For a long time, there has been a hush-hush about the upcoming wedding but nothing was confirmed. It was also reported that the couple was supposed to marry early last year but due to the death of Yash Chopra the plan pushed behind.

"Rani will get married in grand filmi style to Aditya Chopra in January 2014. The couple is finalising the date according to the shubh mahurat decided by Aditya’s mother Pamela in consultation with the family priest," he said. "According to Punjabi customs, no festivities or celebrations take place for a year after the death of a family member," an insider said once.

The insider added: “Yashji fell sick during the making of the film (‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’) and the dutiful son (Aditya) took over the reigns. He was in London for the better part of the year, as was Rani. This being a big film as Chopra Sr was returning to the big screen after a long break. He wanted energies to be focused on the film and nothing else, so the wedding was put off till after the release of the film.”

“According to Punjabi customs, no festivities or celebrations take place till after a year of death of a family member. The 365 days following the demise of a close relative is called an impurity period,” the source continued. And now, with the stipulated one year coming to an end, wedding preparations in the Chopra and Mukherjee's household are reportedly in full swing.

This will be Rani’s first marriage and Aditya’s second. Aditya Chopra was earlier married to his childhood friend Payal but they got divorced.
