Ranbir Kapoor rubbishes rumors of him replacing Big B as KBC host

Ranbir Kapoor has rubbished as rumours reports suggesting that he is replacing megastar Amitabh Bachchan as host for the upcoming season of popular game show ‘Kaun Banega Cororepati’. “Rubbish,” the ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ actor told NDTV, when he was asked about it.

A leading entertainment portal had yesterday stated that the ninth season of ‘Kaun Banega Cororepati’, popularly known as ‘KBC’, will see a change of host and Ranbir Kapoor will be hosting the game show’s upcoming season.

“As of now, the way things are standing, the rumours about Ranbir Kapoor replacing Amitabh Bachchan to be hosting the next season of ‘KBC’ seems more like a market buzz, since there has been no official announcement or confirmation about the same,” the report in Bollywood Hungama further stated. Another leading daily mentioned that Aditya Roy Kapur was also being considered.

‘KBC’ brought a revolution of sorts in the Indian television industry when its first started airing on Star Plus. It is based on the UK game show ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’, and Amitabh Bachchan has been its hosting ever since the show’s first season in 2000, barring season three when Shah Rukh Khan briefly stepped in as the host.

From the fourth season ‘KBC’ moved from Star Plus to Sony TV, and the last season was aired in 2014. Host Amitabh Bachchan sometime back, revealed in a Facebook chat that the ninth of ‘KBC’ was being planned for 2017.
