Ranbir Kapoor's ‘Roy’ earns 10.40 crore in the opening day

Despite opening with negative reviews, Jacqueline Fernandez, Arjun Rampal and Royng>Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Roy’ managed to mint in Rs 10.40 crore in the opening day. The opening day collection of ‘Roy’ is much better than Arjun Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha’s ‘Tevar’ which badly doomed at the box-office. The same day release movie, ‘MSG: The Messenger of God’ had a dull start.

‘Roy’ managed to register 50 percent occupancy in theatres. Releasing on pre-valentine’s day, the movie definitely had an advantage. Good words of mouth are the only hope to save the film from drowning. ‘Roy’ might pick up in the weekend.

The plotline of ‘Roy’ is claimed to be boring and confusing. ‘Roy’ was well promoted by the film casts and it was highly expected that the film will score high at the box-office.

The film has done well in circuits like Delhi, UP and East Punjab. The film collected around Rs 3 crore nett in Mumbai. Multiplexes has fared well compared to single theatres. Vikramjit Singh’s ‘Roy’ had an advantage due to the presence of the heartthrob of Bollywood Ranbir Kapoor and sensuous Jacqueline Fernandez.

Hope, the film picks up in the days to come.
