‘Ram Leela’ strikes gold, earns 33.5 crore at the box-office

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Galiyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela’ strikes gold at the box-office. The movie opens with a fantastic start and despite being a Sachin Tendulkar’s day last Friday, the film has been able to drag a good number of audience to the theatre. The film made an opening day business of 16 crore and on Saturday, it collected 17.5 crore which sum up to 33.5 crore in two days. The Sunday collection is yet to come up and it is expected that the film will make around 50 crore in the opening weekend.

Positive words of mouth dragged audience to the theatre on the second day and ‘Ram Leela’  collected Rs 17 crore on Saturday,  summing up to 33.5 crore. The film is likely to break many records.

The film is doing great overseas, The film broke ‘Krrish 3’ and ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ overseas box-office record, it earned 450 thousand dollars in United States alone(Approximately INR 2.8 crores)  compared to ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani’ (USD 430,000) and Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Krrish 3’ (USD 311,000).

The film is also doing well in the UK and UAE with collections of 87,000 pounds and 1.3 million dirhams respectively. The movie is set to create a new record overseas.

Relieved and excited with the film’s response, Bhansali said, “I haven’t received so many congratulations in a while. Everybody is saying this is the kind of cinema they like to see me make. It’s a great feeling when your hard work pays off.”

Based on Shakespeare's love epic, 'Romeo and Juliet', the film stars Ranveer Singh and Deeika Padukone in the lead.
