Ram Lakhan remake: Shahid as ‘Ram’, Ranveer as ‘Lakhan’

The remake of the 1989 blockbuster film, ‘Ram Lakhan’ directed and produced by Subhash Ghai was in talk for a long time and now the film is likely to go on floor very soon. Blockbuster director Rohit Shetty is going to remake ‘Ram Lakhan’ and the casting has been a prime issue now.

In the original movie, the iconic role of Ram was enacted by Jackie Shroff and the role of Lakhan was played by Anil Kapoor and now talks were on that Shahid Kapoor might step into the role of Ram and Ranveer Singh as Lakhan. However, nothing has not been finalized yet.

For the role of Lakhan, Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor was considered and for the role of Ram Ranbir Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan and Sidharth Malhotra were being considered earlier.

Says a source, "Out of all the names being tossed for Lakhan's part, Ranveer was the first choice. Also, last year Anil Kapoor, who played Lakhan, had said that Ranveer was perfect for the role. As for Ram's character, it was decided that Shahid would be an ideal pick. The actors, however, have not signed on the dotted line."

Adds the source, "The makers are looking for fresh faces to essay Madhuri Dixit and Dimple Kapadia's characters and the project is likely to go on floors by end of the year. Once everything is finalised, an official announcement will be made."

When contacted, Rohit Shetty says, "I am still working on my script. Nothing has been finalised yet."

Currently, both Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh are busy with their respective projects. Shahid is gearing up for his next release, ‘Udta Punjab’ while Ranveer is in Paris shooting for ‘Befikre’.
