The maker, whose name is synonymous with...
...'different' cinema, just can't stop singing praises of Nana Patekar's acting prowess in his forthcoming film AB TAK 56, scheduled to hit the theatres on February 27.

AB TAK 56 happens to be Nana's third film with RGV [the duo worked together in BHOOT and DARNA MANA HAI earlier] in a short span, which speaks of the comfort level the two professionals share with each other. “Nana has surpassed his previous performances in AB TAK 56. In fact, this is amongst the finest performances Hindi cinema has ever seen,” RGV tells me.

RGV is equally confident of debutante director Shimit Amin's abilities. “AB TAK 56 has been treated most realistically. Not once do you feel as if you're merely watching a flick as an outsider. The treatment makes you feel as if you're a participant, watching the action happen right in front of your eyes. It's like watching an authentic news-report on a news channel,” beams RGV.

Like RGV, Shimit has also gone against the tide by doing away from the usual masala. “It's not one of those conventional Bollywood films where the protagonist breaks into a song or bashes up ten people at a go or an item number crops up from nowhere,” RGV adds, continuing in the same vein, “If EK HASINA THI was a stylish fare with a dash of realism, AB TAK 56 is hardcore realistic. The emphasis is more on storytelling, not as much on making the frame look visually striking.”

RGV feels that the film has the potential to be remembered as a landmark film like ARDH SATYA. “It has been a satisfying experience making this film. I'll always be proud of AB TAK 56,” he asserts.
