Rakhi Sawant arrested in Mumbai

Controversy’s favourite child Rakhi Sawant is in the news again for all wrong reasons. Rakhi Sawant was arrested today for making unpleasant remark about Valmiki Community. A Punjab Police team had left for Mumbai to implement the arrest warrant issued against the item girl.

The court issued the arrest warrant after Rakhi Sawant failed to appear in the court on March 9. Last year, at a television programme Rakhi has made the derogatory remarks against sage Valmiki, who wrote the mythological Hindu epic 'Ramayana'.

After the arrest warrant, Rakhi Sawant made an apology. She has apologized for her remark in a video. In her apology, Rakhi Sawant said what she had learnt this in school and is not meant to hurt the sentiments of anyone.

"I just gave an example from what I have read in my childhood. Just like Valmiki, who got changed from being a robber to a saint, Mika ji also has changed. It was just an example," she said.

Rakhi said that at first she thought it was an April fool’s prank.

“When I got the news, I initially thought it was an April fool prank. I don't know why I am being targeted. Maybe because I belong to the film industry, I am an easy target.”

“I did not receive any notice or summon in regard to the warrant. I too got to know from the media this morning that police is coming to arrest me, because allegedly I told something wrong against sage Valmiki. I respect him and Valmiki community a lot. I don’t know why I am being targeted(sic).”

Finally, she concluded by saying, "Through ANI, I want to apologise to all the Valmiki community brothers and sisters, if I have hurt their sentiment. But this wasn't my intention."

The next hearing for the case is scheduled for April 10.
