The 5th season of ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’, the popular stunt/adventure reality show is now over and the winner of this season is model turned actor, Rajniesh Duggal. He overcame the two runner-ups, Gurmeet Choudhary and Nikitin Dheer, both TV actors on the final episode that was telecasted on Sunday. Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgan handed over the winner’s trophy to Rajneesh who had confessed about his fear of snakes and lizards when he joined the show.

Visibly happy after winning, the actor gave his reaction to the media, "When our journey was about to begin, all the contestants were told to fill a form where they had to pen down their fears in a column. I was scared of lizards and snakes the most. The show put me against crocodiles and snakes. The show helped me overcome my fear of crocodiles and snakes."

‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ is based on the popular American TV show ‘Fear Factor’ where the participants have to perform dangerous stunts on land and water. The stunts often feature things that the participants are afraid of in real life, for example certain animals, insects, fear of height, drowning etc. This year, the show was held in locations across South Africa.

Popular Bollywood film director Rohit Shetty was the host of the show this season while Amitabh Bachchan was the special narrator for the opening episode that aired on 22nd March. The show started with 17 contestants, mostly actors and model, and from there on regular eliminations took place, based on their performance in various stunt based tasks. Rajneesh has praised Rohit on his hosting and said that he motivated him to perform better, "Rohit motivated everyone. He pushed every contestant to another level with each task. He is one of the reasons that I managed to win the show.”

Rajneesh who is a fitness fanatic began the show on a low key but with time established himself as a dark horse. By the time the show was nearing its end he had become a favorite to win it. Rajeesh feels that he is now a bolder person in real life, "The show not only opened doors for other ventures but it did make me a bold human being. I was always a strong-headed but I have become bold now."
